Spark Mortgage is growing, and this month we’re happy to introduce two new faces to our team: Chelsea Beatty, joining as a mortgage broker, and Jennifer Petrunia, joining as a mortgage administrator. Both bring real, varied experience to the table, and both share the same thing we look for in everyone at Spark: a genuine desire to help people through what can be a stressful process.
Here’s a bit about each of them.
Chelsea Beatty, Mortgage Broker
Chelsea comes to mortgage brokering from an unusual angle: nearly 20 years working in the legal industry, including family law and commercial lending. That background matters more than it might seem. Legal work teaches you to pay close attention to detail without ever losing sight of the person the paperwork is actually about, and that’s exactly the approach Chelsea brings to her clients.
Whether someone is buying their first home, refinancing, renewing, or working through the financial side of a separation, Chelsea’s focus is on making the process feel clear and manageable. She takes the time to listen, explains options in plain language, and looks for a mortgage solution that fits a client’s actual life, not just the numbers on an application.
Outside of work, Chelsea is a mom of two girls, so free time tends to be busy and rarely boring. When she does get a break, you’ll likely find her paddleboarding, biking, doing yoga, or checking out a local coffee shop.
Jennifer Petrunia, Mortgage Administrator
Jennifer’s path into mortgage administration started early, shadowing her aunt, a CGA, and discovering an interest in business, accounting, and client care. Since then, she’s built a well-rounded background across legal and administrative work, including litigation, corporate and estate law, bookkeeping, payroll administration, and client relations.
That range of experience shows up in how she works: detail-oriented, dependable, and genuinely invested in building relationships people can count on. Honesty, integrity, and care aren’t just words for Jennifer, they’re how she approaches the work day to day.
Originally from the Lower Mainland, Jennifer made Vancouver Island home in 2019. Outside the office, she’s usually enjoying island life with her fiancé, young son, and two dogs, often exploring local beaches, with Rathtrevor Provincial Park among her favourites. She’s also happiest in the kitchen, in the garden, or partway through a new sewing project.
Why It Matters to Us
At Spark, we’re a small enough team that every new hire changes the day to day experience for our clients and brokers. Chelsea and Jennifer both bring skills that strengthen different parts of what we do, Chelsea on the client facing brokering side, Jennifer on the administrative work that keeps files moving smoothly behind the scenes. More than their resumes, though, they both fit how we try to operate: straightforward, detail focused, and genuinely on the client’s side.
If you’re working with Spark or considering a private mortgage in BC, there’s a good chance you’ll cross paths with one or both of them soon.
